Vegetative Waste

The SCMUA operates composting and mulching facilities at the Solid Waste and Recycling Facilities in Lafayette, NJ. Residents, municipalities and commercial haulers may bring leaves, grass clippings, brush, and stumps to the facility. Leaves and lawn clippings are composted onsite. Screened and unscreened compost are available and free if self-loaded. Brush and small trees are chipped on-site into regular and colored mulch also available for purchase. Stumps are transported to a recycling market for mulching. 

Pickup trucks and vehicles with trailers are required to proceed over the scale. If the pickup truck, vehicle with trailer, automobile, minivan, or SUV contains two (2) or less barrels/bags of leaves, brush or lawn clippings, it shall be determined as de minimis amounts and not be charged. Anything over said de minimis amount, the customer is required pay for the entire load. 

Brush shall be separated from grass clippings and loose leaves, (and vice versa) or subject to Improper Disposal charge if not properly separated.
