Wastewater Treatment Facilities Attendant

Position Summary:

The Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority (SCMUA) in Hardyston, New Jersey is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team as a full-time Wastewater Treatment Facilities Attendant. This position reports to and receives direction from the Chief Plant Operator or the Wastewater Maintenance Foreman, as designated by the Superintendent of Wastewater Facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform lawn and shrubbery maintenance.
• Provide snow plowing, shoveling, and salting.
• Paint equipment and buildings as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance and general housekeeping duties.
• Assist wastewater facility operators and maintenance personnel, including but not limited to operating pumps, valves, and other equipment, as well as providing lubrication and minor maintenance as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the proper and efficient operation of the Authority’s wastewater facilities.

Qualifications:

• Ability to read, write, and understand the English language sufficient to perform job duties.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and coworkers.
• High school diploma preferred; no prior experience required.

Working Conditions:

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergencies on a rotating on-call basis.

Grade and Compensation:

• Grade: 5 (40 hours/week)
• Salary Range*: Starting between $41,600 ($20/hr.) – $45,800 ($22/hr.)
